Ebcak Of The Week: Idiot Racer

The following should be a lesson to everyone, save the celebrating till after you’ve won. It’s a hard earned lesson, and I’m sure he lost a lot of money in that race. But it’s as funny as heck, and I was loving every minute, I’m sure you will too.

Shelter Carts For The Homeless

On a recent post, I told you about the Car Shaped Urban Tent, a cool tent that you can park on the street. The Car Shaped Urban Tent is useful for backpackers looking for cheap accommodation. But for urban dwellers who don’t get around much, there is something a little more practical, it’s called the Shelter Cart. According to the website:

The project was not seen a solution to the social problem of the homeless but instead as an method of raising awareness about the issue.

We think the idea is pretty cool.

The Car Of My Dreams

I recently visited auto123.com to look for information on buying a used car and saw the car of my dreams. Just one look at the 2008 Audi R8 and I was in heaven. Here was a car that had it all, sleek lines, long and mean. But what really hooked me in was the sophistication, it looks like more than just a s sports car. A lot of thought went into the design of this beauty. There’s no mistaking the presence of a set wheels like the Audi R8 and the critics love it. At $150,000, it’s out of most people’s reach, but it won’t keep me from dreaming of owning one someday. Until then I’ll keep looking through the used vehicles section.

Besides having great information on new and used cars, auto123.com is holding their Drive, Rate and Fly contest.  The winners will win a free vacation, and we can all use a vacation. Although I don’t usually enter contests, I couldn’t resist, It would be nice winning a vacation to Mexico. The only thing that would make me happier than winning a trip to Mexico would be a trip to Mexico and the Audi R8. :-)

Your Own Newspaper Brick

For those of you who would love to put some of those old newspapers to some good use, perhaps the Newspaper Brick Maker is the thing the doctor ordered. This useful device will turn that pile of useless newspaper into a useable brickette that lights easily. Very convenient to take along to the cottage or camp.

The New 7 Wonders of Nature

Yesterday I wrote about the selection of the New 7 Wonders Of The World that took place back in 2007. If you missed out on the voting for that event, don’t despair, the same people that brought us the New 7 Wonders Of The World are now taking votes for the The New 7 Wonders of Nature. You can vote online here.  The following images are a small sampling of the more popular Wonders of Nature. From Top to bottom:

  • Victoria Falls, ZAMBIA/ ZIMBABWE
  • Mount Everest, CHINA/ NEPAL
  • Ha Long Bay, VIET NAM
  • Chocolate Hills, PHILIPPINES

The New 7 Wonders Of The World

In an attempt to bring the 7 Wonders Of The World up to date, the NewOpenWorld Foundation announced the New 7 Wonders Of The World back in 2007. Using Web based polling and Phone voting, 100 million votes were tallied and the winners were announced in Lisbon Portugal in a dazzling show at the Lisbon’s Benfica Stadium. Hosting the event was Actresses Hilary Swank and Bipasha Basu and actor Ben Kingsley.

Here are the New 7 Wonders Of The World as selected by the people in 2007:

The Pyramid at Chichén Itzá (before 800 A.D.) Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico MEXICO
Christ Redeemer (1931) Rio de Janeiro, Brazil BRAZIL
The Roman Colosseum (70 - 82 A.D.) Rome, Italy ITALY
The Great Wall of China (220 B.C and 1368 - 1644 A.D.) China CHINA
Machu Picchu (1460-1470), Peru PERU
Petra (9 B.C. - 40 A.D.), Jordan JORDAN
The Taj Mahal (1630 A.D.) Agra, India INDIA

All 7 Wonders have equal standing.

Just in case you were wondering. Here is a list of the Ancient 7 Wonders Of The World:

The Lighthouse of Alexandria
The Temple of Artemis
The Statue of Zeus
The Colossus of Rhodes
The Hanging Gardens of Babylon
The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus
The Pyramids of Egypt

Many will disagree with this list, for example, Selecting Christ Redeemer over the Egyption Pyramids is a bit of a stretch, in our oppionion. That said, it was based on popular vote, so we can say that these are the 7 Wonders chosen by the people. If you would like to find out more about this event, click here.

Capsule Hotels In London

I’ve written in a previous post about the Japanese Sleep Capsules available at Capsule Hotels all over Japan. Now there’s an English version of the Capsule Hotels called Yotel. They are more spacious than the Japanese version and have more features like an en suite. Below is more information taken from the Yotel’s website and check out the cool video too.

Everything you would expect from a luxury hotel in a small space. Located uniquely inside the airport terminal buildings at London Heathrow’s Terminal 4 and London Gatwick’s South Terminal. Just moments walk from check in, arrivals and minutes from the other terminals. YOTEL opens at Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam in Summer 2008.

You can choose between Premium (double), Twin (2 large singles - bunk style) Standard (large single) cabins with en suite bathrooms, flat screen TV’s, free WiFi and 24 hour in cabin service.

Book exactly what you want when you want it – from just a few hours day or night to 24 or more.

How To Find The Top 10 Web Hosts Of 2008

When I initially started up ebcak.com, I spent days comparing dozens of Web Hosts in search of the right one for me. It was possibly one of the most frustrating things I’ve ever done. Had I known about webhostinggeeks.com I would have saved all that time and frustration to concentrate on content.

Although I consider myself to be a knowledgeable Geek, there are things that should be left to the Pros. When I stumbled upon webhostinggeeks.com, I said to myself “If only I knew about this site, then”. All of the information that I wish I had, is there for the taking. They’ve got no nonsense, unbiased personal user experiences that will help you find the right web host.

Webhostinggeeks’ Top 10 List Of Web Hosts is concise and extremely helpful. I highly recommend that anyone looking for web hosting, check it out. Oh, I almost forgot, I was also happy to learn that I chose well, my Web Host BlueHost.com is Top 2. You can check out the review for Bluehost here.
