How To Disable Standby Or Hibernate Mode In Windows XP

The following steps will assist you in turning off the auto-standby and/or auto-hibernate on your Windows XP.

  1. Launch the Control Panel
  2. If you are in Classic View, find the Power Options Icon and Double Click. If you are In Category View, click the Performance And Maintenance and then click on Power Options.
  3. Under the Power Schemes Tab, set the Standby and/or Hibernate Options to Never.
  4. Click Apply/Ok and your done.

Desk top Computer with xp goes quickly to screen saver and then to my pictures.
I can seem to stop it sleeping hibernating going to standby even when i put all the power settings to never. It does not seem to act on these settings.
what can i do?

John, it sounds like the issue is your screen saver not the hibernate mode.
