So you have a kazillion telephone numbers and can’t keep track of your calls, and need normality back in your life. We can’t help you with the ‘normality’ part, but Google thinks it can do something about the Kazillion phone number part.
Last year, Google purchased another company, this one called GrandCentral. GrandCentral offers a unique phone service that allows you to receive ONE phone number which is assigned to you, the individual, instead of a device. This number is assigned to you for ‘life’, which means that you will never need to change your phone number again.
It works with cell phones, VOIP lines and desk phones, and you will be able to determine which phone is going to ring, so that you never miss a call.
Apart from choosing which phone you want to ring, GrandCentral offers neat features such as snooping in as a caller leaves a message and call recording as well as enabling custom greetings for different callers, or groups of callers. At last, You can get rid of those pesky telemarketers by sending their offending phone numbers to the spam voicemail box cutting them off permanently from the pleasure of speaking with you.
These are just a few of the features that will be available with GrandCentral once the service is open to the public.
It is currently in the Beta testing stage and only available to residents of the United States at present. At the time of this writing, Google hasn’t yet mentioned how to stop Mother-in-Law from calling, but here’s hoping they’ll find a way.
