Manage Your Startup Programs Part 2

In an earlier post, I explained how you can use Windows Msconfig to manage your startup programs. Although I find Msconfig to be a good solution to managing startup programs, there are some limitations to it. For example, Msconfig does not tell you what a specific program does, or if it’s safe to use. Knowing the origins of a specific program could assist you in weeding out spyware that attaches itself to your Windows startup.

Startup InspectorThe Startup Inspector fills in those gaping holes left by Msconfig, and in my opinion does a better job. Since it isn’t trying to be all things to all people, The Startup Inspector can let you focus exclusively on your startup programs . It does a very good job at informing you which programs are starting with Windows, where these programs originate, what they do and whether or not they are safe to use. It is a must have if you are interested in knowing what is going on when your computer starts, and may also assist you in troubleshooting computer problems. And yes it’s completely free.
