Amazing Architecture: The Blur Building

blur-buildingAlthough it no longer stands , the Blur Building, designed by diller & scofidio must have been a marvel to see in person.

Built for the Swiss Expo 2002 on Lake Neuchatel, the Blur Building was an ‘architecture of atmosphere’. It seems to float in the clouds like a UFO, as if moving and motionless at the same time. The effect was generated through ingenious system that “pumped water from the lake, filtered, and shot as a fine mist through 31,500 high-pressure mist nozzles”. The specially designed system was controlled through a computer system that constantly checked for temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction, ensuring spectacular results every time.
