I’ve been a publisher with the PJ since its inception and I don’t like their latest flat RSS deal. I prefer to use my own configurable tool through wordpress.

The listings look really amateurish.

I haven’t tried the Store Builder, but I did try the pepperJam ad banners.

I really wanted it to work, as they seemed similar to googles context-sensitive ads, but with the potential of higher returns.

But the reality was a bit of a letdown… Many ads were missing the last word or two (which makes my site seem unprofessional), and in 1 month, I only got a $12.50 commission…

Although I have an appalingly low CTR with google (about 1%), I still manage about $30 – $40 per month.

I get the feeling that PJ is great for advertisers, but not so much for the people hosting the ads.

I suspect that all these marketing programs tend to be either skewed in favour of the advertisers (PJ and many others), or towards the ad hosts (google).

Maybe its a different story if you run a website with over 10,000 visitors per day…
