Microsoft prides itself at being at the forefront of technology information. The problem is, Windows Vista, as most of you know hasn’t been the glorious success that Microsoft has hoped.
According to Mike Nash of the Vista blog, Microsoft is set to name the new, in development Windows, code named Windows 7, as the official post release name.
This is an unusual turn of events since Microsoft has never before called the official Windows release by it’s code name. Some previous code names that you may be familiar with are code names Whistler for Windows XP and Longhorn for Vista.
Microsoft has often chosen to name Windows based on release numbers, like Windows 3.1, or dates like Windows 95, or by monikers like Windows XP & Vista. Why or for that matter if Microsoft will choose the name Windows 7 is still unclear. The number 7 has special meaning such as a Gambling term as in “The Lucky Number 7″, or in early Christian Mythology known as the “7 Deadly Sins”. Only time will tell if Windows 7 will in fact be the official release name.
