Forget about the melting of the Earth’s ice caps, hurtling asteroids crashing from the heaven’s and killer bees. Scientists are now studying another possible apocalyptic event that may be the end of us all, you guessed it, it’s the flipping of the Earth’s core. Yes, you heard right. Geophysicists at the University of Maryland have created a 10 foot orb and are set to spin it at mind numbing speeds with the hope of calculating the time when the Earth’s core may flip. If the Earth’s core flips, scientists calculate that the Earth’s magnetic field would flip also, wreaking absolute havoc. Watch this video to see the spinning orb in action.
