I’m always looking around the Internet for cool stuff. If you haven’t heard, Google is holding it’s Project 10100 contest with the hope of getting people involved to make this world a better place.
Google is donating $10 million to help kick-start the five winning ideas. Although you don’t personally win any money if your submission is chosen, it’s still great to know that your idea(s) may have saved lives or bettered the lives of people around the globe.
If you were wondering where how they chose the name, 10100 is also known as a googol, which is where Google got it’s name.
Here are the following categories that you can submit your ideas under:
* Community: How can we help connect people, build communities and protect unique cultures?
* Opportunity: How can we help people better provide for themselves and their families?
* Energy: How can we help move the world toward safe, clean, inexpensive energy?
* Environment: How can we help promote a cleaner and more sustainable global ecosystem?
* Health: How can we help individuals lead longer, healthier lives?
* Education: How can we help more people get more access to better education?
* Shelter: How can we help ensure that everyone has a safe place to live?
* Everything else: Sometimes the best ideas don’t fit into any category at all.
I’m really glad to see Google doing this and now it’s up to us to put our thinking caps on and submit our ideas to make this world a wee bit better. You can find out more here.
Great idea from the big G. It’ll be good to see what ideas come of this. Will the people whose idea it was have anything to do with it or will Google just run with that idea themselves?
